The China International Battery Technology Conference/Exhibition (CIBF) is an international convention for the battery industry sponsored by the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association. It is held every two years in China and is the largest exhibition in the international battery industry. CIBF is the first international exhibition in China's battery industry to be protected by trademark registration. Following the successful hosting of the 12th China International Battery Technology Conference/Exhibition (CIBF2016) at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from May 24th to 26th, 2016, the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association is scheduled for May 2018. From the 22nd to the 24th, the 13th China International Battery Technology Conference/Exhibition (CIBF2018) was held at an unprecedented scale. Since the CIBF2016, China's new energy vehicles and lithium-ion batteries have developed rapidly. In 2016, new energy vehicles (according to EV and PHEV) reached 500,000, and lithium-ion power batteries reached 30 GWh. Although the Chinese government has adjusted the subsidies for new energy vehicles in 2017, from the battery market since the beginning of this year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the production and sales of new energy vehicles from January to September were 424,000 and 398,000, year-on-year. Growth was 40.2% and 37.7%. Among them, pure electric vehicles produced and sold 348,000 and 325,000 vehicles, up 51.6% and 50.1% year-on-year; plug-in hybrid vehicles produced 76,000 vehicles and 73,000 vehicles, up 4% and 0.5% year-on-year. It is estimated that new energy vehicles will increase by 30%-40% in 2017, and the total will reach 65 to 700,000 units. According to statistics from the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, the installed capacity of new energy vehicle batteries in January-September has reached 15.17GWh, a year-on-year increase of 24%. In particular, with the changes in market demand and the development of battery technology, ternary batteries with high energy density have come to the fore, gradually occupying a dominant position in the new energy passenger vehicle market. In the first 9 months, the installed capacity of ternary batteries reached 7.74 GWh, exceeding the 6.3 GWh of lithium iron phosphate batteries. Among them, the pure electric passenger car ternary battery accounted for 73% higher. In the technical roadmap of China's manufacturing 2025 key areas, the development goal of new energy vehicle power battery is proposed. In 2020, the energy of the new lithium-ion battery unit will reach 300 wh/kg, and the power of the battery unit in 2025 will further reach 400 wh/Kg. The cost of the system is reduced to 1 yuan / wh. In order to achieve the above objectives, we will strengthen the implementation of the existing high-safety, high-specific energy lithium-ion battery energy technology, while also accelerating the battery-critical materials such as positive and negative electrodes and new battery systems for new and higher specific characteristics. Based on the above background, CIBF2018 Technology Exchange Conference is still titled “CIBF2018 International Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Seminar”, and continues to focus on “Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery”, focusing on various types of batteries for electric vehicles and smart grids and microgrids.
