Rainstorm in northern India kills 77, climbers die 12
Indian media reported on Sunday that the death toll from heavy rains in Uttarakhand had risen to 77. According to data from the National Meteorological Service of India, the national rainfall from October 1 to 21 was 41% more than normal, while the rainfall in Uttarakhand was more than 5 times higher than normal.
Rescue forces in Uttarakhand found the remains of 12 climbers in the rubble on Sunday, and at least three others were missing. In the past two days, rescue forces have transferred a total of 52 climbers trapped in the mountain to safety.
